Business Edge is the brand name for IFC's international range of management training products and services, specially designed for owners and managers of SMEs. It includes 36 different management workbooks in 5 different topics, namely: Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, Finance & Accounting, and Productivity Skills .Its comparative advantage lies in the fact that it is:
1 Based on first –rate international material from the global market.
2 A practical means by which SME owners/managers can improve their efficiency and profitability.
3 Customized to fit the local business environment (ie .the materials are in Arabic with local business examples).
Business Edge was successfully launched in several Asian countries, with more than 12,000 trainees attending the courses and workshops. Based on this success, IFC/PEP-MENA is currently rolling out the product across the Middle East and training is now available in Oman, Yemen, West Bank &Gaza, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. As of today IFC/PEP-MENA has trained 3000 SMEs in Egypt through its training providers.
IFC/PEP-MENA provides its Business Edge product range, which includes self-study management workbooks, trainer manuals and train-the-trainer workshops, to local training providers. These in turn use the Business Edge products as a core in designing their unique and innovative training programs for SMEs. IFC/PEP-MENA certifies the training providers and monitors their performance, ensuring that consistent quality standards are upheld. Each training provider invests in promoting his/her own Business Edge based training program(s) to SMEs.
