Course Outlines:
Solid Works Overview
An introduction to Solid Works modeling concept and user interface.
Introduction to Sketching
Create basic sketch functions. Establish sketch relations between pieces of geometry. Understand the state of the sketch and the rule that govern the sketch.
Basic Part Modeling
Choose the best profile for sketching and the proper sketch plane. Create basic feature like extrude boss, extrude cut, and fillet. Make a change to a dimension.
Modeling a Casting or Forging
Create fully defined sketches through the use of dimensions and geometric relationships. Use the view display and modification commands. Copy and paste features.
Patterning
Use several different types of patterns. Use geometry patterns properly.
Revolved Features
Create revolved features. Apply special dimensioning techniques to sketches for revolved features. Calculate the physical properties of a part.
Simulation Xpress
Students are taught how to implement rudimentary stress analysis to parts.
Part Editing
diagnose various problems in a part and repair them. Utilize all the available tools to edit and makechanges to a part.
Configuration of Parts
using configurations to represent different versions of a part within a single Solid Works file.
Bottom-up Assembly Modeling
Using Assemblies
Perform mass properties calculations and interference detection. Perform design verification using Physical dynamics and Physical simulations. Create an exploded view of an assembly Add exploded lines.
Drawing Sheets and View
create a drawing file and drawing sheet with sheet format. Add many types of drawing views of parts.
Adding Dimensions and Annotations
Add center marks, center lines, and other annotations. Insert and manipulate driven and driving dimensions. Add layers to the Solid Works drawing.
Drawings Sheets and Templates
Set document properties. Create and save a sheet format. Create and save a drawing template. Use the DWG Editor.
Assembly Drawing Views
add many types of assembly drawing views. Create exploded drawing views. Hide components in the drawing view.
Bill of Material and tables
Create a customized bill of materials (BOM) template. Modify a BOM. Control the ordering of components in BOM. Add a hole and revision table.
